• Hardwired smart wall switch — alongside the remote, app, and voice control, you get a permanent wall-mounted control that handles fan speed (5 levels), light dimming, color temperature, and reverse direction. Because it's fully hardwired (no batteries required, ever), it works the moment you flip it.
• Full Power-Off Memory — automatically resumes your last fan speed, brightness, and color temperature after any power outage (the standard Essex does not have this).

Please note the Essex II wall switch is not sold separately and not compatible with the standard Essex. If you know you'll want wall-switch control and outage recovery, we recommend going with the Essex II Downrod 52" from the start.

Yes — the Essex is damp-rated and ENERGY STAR certified, making it perfect for covered outdoor spaces: porches, balconies, screened patios, sunrooms, gazebos with solid roofs, and breezeways protected from direct rain. It works equally well indoors in bedrooms, living rooms, and kitchens.

Important: the Essex is not rated for fully exposed locations like open pergolas, beachfront patios, or anywhere rain/snow can reach the fan directly. For exposed wet locations, you'll need a wet-rated fan.

No — the standard Essex includes a remote control, smartphone app (Carro Home), Bluetooth, and voice control via Alexa, Google Assistant, and Siri Shortcuts, but no wall switch.

The Essex 52-inch is designed for large rooms between 145 and 300 sq ft — typical living rooms, master bedrooms, dining rooms, large home offices, sunrooms, and medium-sized covered patios. With 5000 CFM airflow and a 10-speed DC motor, it cools rooms of this size in just minutes.

If your room is smaller (75–144 sq ft, like small bedrooms or breakfast nooks), consider a 48-inch fan for better proportion. For great rooms over 300 sq ft, the Essex 60 inch delivers stronger airflow.

Yes — the Essex Downrod model supports sloped ceilings up to 27°, one of the most flexible angled-mounting capabilities in our lineup. It ships with a 4.5-inch standard downrod, and you can order extension downrods (14" / 18" / 24" / 36" / 46" and longer) directly on this product page for ceilings up to 15 feet high.

For low-ceiling rooms (under 9 ft), the standard Essex Downrod would hang too low — go with the Essex 52" Low Profile flush mount instead.
